Nothing Phone 1 gets Nothing OS 3.0 Beta (Android 15) Update

The Nothing OS 3.0 Beta has been announced for the first Nothing Phone, i.e. the Nothing Phone (1). The Nothing OS 3.0 open beta brings Android 15 experience to the original model including all the new goodies.

Nothing Phone 1 Specs

Nothing phone (1) has been officially announced on July 12, 2022. The size of the device is 6.55 inches OLED capacitive touchscreen. The dimension of the device is 159.2 x 75.8 x 8.3 mm and it weighs 193.5 grams. The resolution of the screen is 1080 x 2400 pixels and it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The smartphone runs on the Android 12 + Nothing OS operating system. The internal storage is 128 GB and 256 GB with 8 GB and 12 GB RAM options. Nothing phone (1) consists of a dual camera: 50 MP (wide) + 50 MP (ultrawide) camera while on the front there is a single 16 MP (wide) camera.

The device is available in White and Black. The smartphone is fueled with a non-removable Li-Po 4500 mAh battery + Fast charging 33W + Wireless charging 15W + Reverse wireless charging 5W + Power Delivery 3.0 + Quick Charge 4.0.

It features Bluetooth 5.2, A-GPS. Up to dual-band: GLONASS (1), BDS (2), GALILEO (1), QZSS (1), and Type-C 2.0, USB On-The-Go. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm SM7325-AE Snapdragon 778G+ 5G Octa-core processor while GPU is Adreno 642L.

It also supports Dual SIM, multiple LED lights on the back (notifications, charging progress, camera fill light) and Blinking red light on the back (video recording indicator). The sensors include optical under display fingerprint, accelerometer, proximity, gyro, and compass.

Nothing Phone 1 is the fourth phone to receive Android 15 open beta after the Nothing Phone 2aNothing Phone 2 and CMF Phone 1. The Nothing Phone 2a Plus is also scheduled to receive Nothing OS 3.0 this month, so stay tuned for that too.

Since there is time for the stable release, users can now experience Android 15 early through the Open Beta program. Anyone with Nothing Phone 1 running latest build Spacewar-U2.6-241031-1818 can apply for the open beta by following the steps below.

  • Download and install the Nothing updater APK.
  • Navigate to Settings > System > Update to Beta version.
  • Tap “Check for new version” and follow the steps to install the Nothing OS 3.0 beta.

  • Enabled predictive back animations for apps that have opted in.
  • New fingerprint animation with signature dot matrix styling.
