In the last few hours, Xiaomi has released a new HyperOS 2 update for the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro that, among other improvements, implements a revolutionary and unique new communication system. This allows us to make calls without the need for a mobile network to be available, even from inside a basement or an elevator.
Just as Xiaomi promised, the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro have just been updated with a new communication system that is unique in the world. This is Xiaomi Star, a technology that allows you to make calls without needing a mobile network connection or Internet access.
Although the Xiaomi 15 Series has not yet debuted in Europe or Latin America, it is expected to do so at the end of the year or early 2025. In China, they have been updated with this new technology that, in addition to allowing two devices to communicate at a distance of 3.5 kilometers, is also capable of passing through up to seven layers of walls and thus offering good connectivity.
In itself, Xiaomi Star allows you to connect two Xiaomi 15 or Xiaomi 15 Pro and offers its own two-way call system for use in case of emergency or in places without mobile coverage. All this under its own communication frequency capable of passing through walls so that we can even communicate in a basement or an elevator.
For the moment, this technology is only available on the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro, and it will likely be extended to other models that Xiaomi launches from now on. We will have to see if after the arrival of both devices in Europe, they will also debut together with this technology or if it will finally be exclusive to China.
